Teacher Tania
Online or in person, one to one. 30, 45 or 60 minutes, you pick per lesson. In English, German or Russian. I teach people who picked the flute up last month and students preparing auditions, and the lesson looks fairly different depending on which you are.

What we work on
- Tone and air
- Technique and articulation
- Repertoire, classical and not
- Playing over a backing track and staying with it
- Improvising without a safety net
- Audition and exam preparation
- Recording yourself without hating it
Extended techniques
Flute beatbox and circular breathing. I teach both on request. Neither comes up in a normal conservatory lesson and both take a while, so say early on if you want them.
You just got a flute
We start with the sound itself and get you to a first real piece. No previous theory needed.
You played, then stopped
Usually a rebuild of embouchure and breathing, then repertoire you actually want to play rather than what you were given at twelve.
Auditions and extended technique
Programme building, audition nerves, and the extended techniques that are hard to find a teacher for.
Who is teaching
I studied at the special music school of the St Petersburg Conservatory and took three master’s degrees at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, including music pedagogy. I have played in orchestras, at festivals and in pits, and I have been teaching since my own student years.
